The Royal Melbourne Hospital capital works team approached Westlab to assist with manufacture and installation of an urgently required COVID-19 testing laboratory. After the preliminary layout and design work was completed, Westlab’s agile projects team worked together throughout the manufacture and delivery phases to have this project completed within 5 weeks. This speed reflected the true essence of remarkable teamwork, communication and a proven Australian-made laboratory joinery system.

To meet the stringent requirements of the laboratory, Westlab used high grade chemical-resistant benchtops and epoxy coated steel frames throughout. This meant the end-users can perform to their best with a high quality environment that comfortably withstands the rigours of laboratory life.

The flexibility of the Modulab Connect system met the clients requirements thoroughly, and will be adaptable for many years to come with the challenge of the fast-changing requirements of COVID-19 testing. The open layout of this project gives scope for efficient workflows and accurate outcomes, making it a truly cutting edge space.
