As the newest secondary school in the Newcastle region, Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie is a learning faith community in the Mercy tradition. The college, which boasts state-of-the-art facilities, has a strong focus on relationships that will be critical in building a genuine sense of belonging and a culture of trust within the community.
The latest addition to the college has been the Science and TAS buildings, which will give students access to a truly modern science environment.
The Westlab projects team worked closely with Webber Architects and North Construction & Building to deliver multiple science laboratory spaces and a preparation room that is functional, flexible and aesthetically pleasing.
Design aspects included an advanced senior chemistry laboratory complete with service spines to provide a real-world laboratory experience, functional science classrooms with theory and practical lesson capability and an efficient preparation room with a functional workflow design.
The Modulab Connect system lent an additional degree of flexibility to the entire layout, and enhances the aesthetics of these stunning, modern spaces.
Overall, an outstanding outcome in a modern teaching space which will play a crucial role in each student’s academic achievements.
