Thomas Carr College

Being a dynamic Catholic school, Thomas Carr College prides itself as a place of learning, striving to motivate the current generation of young people to embrace all the opportunities it provides as a Catholic College. As part of this vision, Westlab was engaged by the school to bring the 23 year old science prep room up to date.

The Westlab projects team worked closely with the laboratory user group to design and deliver a preparation room that is functional, flexible and aesthetically pleasing.

With a strong focus on maximising storage area, Westlab’s project team effectively utilised the Modulab Connect system along with the Gratnells tray system. The flexibility of the space was further enhanced with the use of island STEM benches. Additionally, the fume extraction system was also upgraded to include a double-sided fume cabinet which can be used on either the classroom side for teacher demonstrations or the prep room side for handling of chemicals.

The project resulted in an efficient and flexible space, focused on student outcomes and quick lesson changeovers with the modular configuration future-proofing the room should requirements change.
